Satellite images show progress of Xiongan New Area over the past five years (17)

Since the Xiong'an Railway Station of the Beijing-Xiong'an intercity railway in Xiong'an New Area opened to traffic on Dec. 27, 2020, travel time from Beijing West Railway Station to Xiong'an was cut to 50 minutes. Travel from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Xiong'an takes a minimum of 19 minutes. The left part of the combo photo, which was taken by a satellite, shows the site for the Xiong'an Railway Station in 2017, while the right part shows the railway station in May 2022.

Aiming to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as the national capital, Xiongan New Area in north China's Hebei Province has witnessed huge development and recorded a total investment of more than 430 billion yuan (about $61.75 billion) since its establishment in 2017.
