Russians: Traditional Chinese medicine, calligraphy, accessories
Most foreigners have an eye for traditional Chinese specialty products. Christina from Russia says that she has lived in China for seven years. What she buys most is traditional Chinese medicine.
"Chinese medicine is amazing. One medicine could have a variety of effects, such as Essential Balm (风油精), which cures both headaches and mosquito bites. Before I came to China, my grandmother asked me to buy her the Chinese ointment for curing arthritis. "
In addition to medicine, Christina is also interested in Chinese calligraphy. She has a collection of many framed paintings and calligraphy. Tanya, one of Christina's friends is fascinated by accessories, and took home a lot of embroidered balls, fans, Chinese knots and sachets.
Christina says that she also takes home gift boxes of Beijing snacks such as green bean cakes and glutinous rice rolls with sweet been flour. "When I first tasted these snacks I thought they were very special."
