4th China Pu'er Tea Festival
From May 15 to 18, 1999, the 4th China Pu'er Tea Festival was held in Simao City, for which press conferences were held in Shanghai and Kunming in succession. More than 500 visitors and 94 enterprises took part in the exhibition for trade, with over 200 commodities exhibited including tea, coffee and white sugar. During the festival, PUER Home Town and Simao Tea Association were established to redeem the glory of Pu'er tea and promote Pu'er tea culture.
5th China Pu'er Tea Festival
From April 8 to 11, 2001, the 5th China Pu'er Tea Festival was held in Simao City, which also served as a branch meeting venue for the 2nd China Kunming International Tourism Festival and 1st National Spring Tea Trade Fair in Kunming, China. This festival saw the opening of China Pu'er Tea Trade Market, holding of the 3rd China Pu'er Tea International Symposium and hosting of a variety shows themed with "Spring Wave of Tea Hometown", where performance on tea art and tea ceremony and other cultural and artistic activities demonstrated the charm of the land of tea.
6th China Pu'er Tea Festival
During the 6th China Pu'er Tea Festival held from April 18 to 20, 2003 in Simao City, the sculpture entitled "Tea Ancestor Zhuge Kongming" was unveiled; the first national brand-name and high-quality Pu'er tea appraisal activity and the first national minority tea art competition were held; the classic music concert with the charm of tea as the theme was also organized; the 600 booths were offered at the exhibition for tea products and famous, characteristic and quality commodities, attracting over 2,100 visitors from 860 enterprises from both home and abroad to present at the trade fair.
7th China Pu'er Tea Festival
From April 27 to 30, 2005, the 7th China Pu'er Tea Festival, First Global Pu'er Tea Carnival and First Pu'er Trade Fair of Yunnan Province were held in Simao City. With the "Tea Source of the World, Tea City of China and Hometown of Pu'er Tea" as the theme, a series of creative and original activities were organized, including the tea ancestor worshipping ceremony, the campaign entitled "the Caravan and the Tea-Horse Roads: Paying the Auspicious Tribute Tea to the Capital", the 3rd National Minority Tea Art Competition and the "Global Top Ten Outstanding Figures for Pu'er Tea" appraisal activity.
