Adopt multiple measures simultaneously to promote employment
Job placement is the top priority in the construction of the “Sunshine Project”. Governments at various levels in Qianxinan Prefecture regarded job placement of the community-based detoxification and rehabilitation patients as the core task in the construction of the project. Multiple measures are adopted including concentrated placement, scattered placement, and encouragement for self-employment to establish a multi-channel job placement system and promote the employment of the community-based detox and rehab patients to the maximum extent. So far, a total of 421 drug detox and rehab patients have been placed including 170 subject to concentrated placement. As of the end of August 2012, another 200 or more patients were receiving skill trainings at the “training base” and awaiting placement in the corresponding “Sunshine Project” enterprises in the near future.
Employee Song Xiangjin in Yinggui Garment Factory, one of the “Sunshine Project” enterprises in Xingren County said gladly: “I finally got a job. With the income to support my life, my wife no longer quarrels with me, and I can become respectful in the society. I once successfully quitted the drug habits, but the employer closed the door upon me when he learned about my drug experience. I was unable to find a job and had nothing to do all day long. As a result, I started using drugs again when my family lost patience with me. The national policy is so great. I must cherish the job the government has given me. I know it is not easy for people like us to find a job.”
Zhang Yongsheng, a drug rehab patient in Xingren Community, after successfully getting rid of drugs, opened up a “Yuyou Fisheries Shop” under the support of the local narcotics control departments and the street committee. He now earns more than 6,000 yuan monthly for the fisheries business. When Wang Jianping, leader of the Anti-Drug Detachment of the Prefecture Public Security Bureau visited him, he said gladly: “Thank you! My life could not have been like today without your support and help!”
