Cultivation of self-owned brand export and implementation of famous brand export strategy is the inevitable requirement of carrying out scientific concept of development and the important measure to transform the foreign trade development pattern and improve foreign trade growth quality. Authorities concerned are making efforts to increase export of self-owned brand products. Ministry of Commerce is cooperating with Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and National Development and Reform Commission to identify various demonstration bases. Presently, 4 batches are identified, including 88 science promoting trade innovation bases, 12 auto and spare parts export bases, 12 ship export bases and 59 foreign trade transformation and upgrading demonstration bases. Through policy guiding and joint efforts between the state and enterprises, it enhances the capability of independent innovation and speeds up the development of self-owned brands. According to the statistics by Ministry of Commerce, the export amount of self-owned brands only in foreign trade transformation and upgrading demonstration bases reached $17.7 billion in 2011, accounting for 42 percent of the total export amount of foreign trade transformation and upgrading demonstration bases.
