A promotional activity for the third China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held on Nov. 25 in New York to encourage more American enterprises to take part in next year's installment. The world-class event highlights opening-up and cooperation, the official CIIE WeChat account reported on Nov. 26.

More than 100 guests from such areas as service trade, food, farming, equipment, and medical industries from New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio attended the activity. A contract signing ceremony was held between U.S. companies and Chinese Chambers of Commerce in the U.S.

China will open its door wider to the world, and pursue a higher level of opening-up, said Gu Chunfang, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in New York.

The country places great importance on the role of importation in economic development, and it will expand imports of high-quality products and services from around the world, including the U.S., Gu stated, adding that the New York Consulate General will do its best to serve and help American corporations to take part in the third CIIE.

U.S. subnational governments and businesses have provided positive feedback on the second CIIE, and expressed willingness to deepen cooperation with China, said Xu Chen, chairman of China General Chamber of Commerce-U.S.A. and president and CEO of Bank of China U.S.A.

During the second CIIE, which concluded on Nov. 10, U.S. exhibitors ranked first in terms of total exhibition area from a single country or region this year. So far, more than 40 American companies have signed up for the third CIIE, and a lot of them have ordered a larger exhibition area.
