LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- A grand concert featuring Chinese film music in the past 70 years was held Thursday night in Southern California in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
With the overture of U.S.-China friendship via well-known American song "Yankee doodle" and Chinese song "I love you, China," dozens of artists from China and Southern California's Chinese American community performed at the concert in the Bonita Center for the Arts in San Dimas, Los Angeles County, with an audience of more than 800 people.
"Those familiar Chinese film songs with beautiful melody recall the extraordinary days of China in the past 70 years, showcasing the tremendous development of China and the moving tale of Chinese people," said Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping in his remarks.
"Music and film, let us all understand that at the end, we all have a love for beauty, whether being in the Chinese language or the American language," said Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger in her speech, noting that the incredible event for the celebration of the PRC's 70th founding anniversary helps to bridge the two cultures.
The event was jointly organized by Eagle Media Inc., China Film Co. Ltd., Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, and Merano Cultural Performances Inc.
