Iqbal Survé, Executive Chairman of Independent Media in South Africa
"It is important for the media to embrace the spirit of the OBOR initiative - openness, inclusivity, sharing, co-operation, innovation, and sustainability."
As trade networks are forged across the world, so too should media networks and alliances. It is important for the media to embrace the spirit of the One Belt One Road Initiative - openness, inclusivity, sharing, co-operation, innovation, and sustainability. Central to this is the importance of upholding the principles of responsible journalism and creating a media landscape that aims to strengthen understanding, friendship and co-operation, and developing a platform for collaboration and equitable media coverage.
The importance of this initiative cannot be underestimated as the world looks on to see how OBOR developmental projects and initiatives will be implemented to bring about a more connected international community and an inclusive new world order.
