19-year-old Liu Yang (Chinese name) from Ghana, who has studied car mechanics in China for four years, is planning to open an automobile vocational school in Ghana and will invite Chinese teachers to give lessons in the school, xinhuanet.com reported on April 22.
Liu Yang's real name is Sergio Cosby Thompson. Four years ago, Liu became the first international student of Lanxiang vocational school, one of China’s most prestigious vocational schools, located in east China’s Shandong Province. He made great efforts to learn the Chinese language and his major, and by his second year, he could talk with his classmates and teachers in Chinese. His academic records have always ranked top 10 in his class.
From a young man with no prior experience of Chinese language or mechanics, to speaking Chinese fluently and being able to disassemble and assemble an engine with his eyes closed, Liu’s change in such a short amount of time is a miracle.
