A 15-year-old boy died early Monday after falling from his sixth floor apartment in Baoshan district, local media reported.
The boy, surnamed Gu, was found around 4 am by a resident who was returning home from work, according to the news website Xinmin.cn.
The resident cried out for help, and a nearby security guard called the police, said Zeng Ni, a press officer with Baoshan police.
Gu lived with his parents in the sixth floor apartment. His bedroom had a window that faced north. Police found the window open, but no signs of a struggle, Zeng said.
Gu's parents believe that he was sleepwalking before the fall, according to a staff member with the compound's neighborhood committee.
