Established in the 1950s, Shihezi, about 150 km northwest of Urumqi, is a young city in the Junggar Basin of northern Xinjiang. Along with Urumqi, Shihezi is one of the most important educational centers in Xinjiang. Equipped with the most up-to-date teaching and scientific research facilities, Shihezi University is one of the most prestigious universities located in the region. In order to increase its teaching quality, the university has established several joint assistance programs with leading universities to promote exchanges of professors and faculty members from other universities around the country, in this way sharing their teaching experience and research outcomes with Shihezi University.
