How China has tried to help the world in global battle against COVID-19? (2)

Editor's note: China understands clearly that the virus doesn't respect boundaries and that the epidemic is the common enemy of mankind. As a result, it has spared no effort in helping countries around the world in their battle against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

While making sure that epidemic prevention and control efforts continue at home, China has constantly shared with the world its experience in fighting the virus via video conferences, sent expert teams to other countries, and provided medical supplies across the globe to battle COVID-19.

Sharing experience in fighting COVID-19 via video conferences

Feb. 12

A video conference on COVID-19 was held between health experts from China and European countries.

Feb. 26

A second video conference on COVID-19 was held between Chinese and European health experts.

March 3 – 4

Renowned Chinese respiratory specialist Zhong Nanshan shared China's experience in fighting COVID-19 with Dr. Anita Simonds, president-elect of the European Respiratory Society, via video link.

March 10

A video conference on COVID-19 was held between health experts from China and Pacific island countries.

Health minister Ekaterine Tikaradze of Georgia said China donated 1,000 COVID-19 test kits to Georgia.

Medical supplies provided by China arrived in Athens, Greece.

China provided medical supplies to the Philippines, including 100,000 COVID-19 test kits and 10,000 medical protective suits.

A batch of medical supplies donated by China to Serbia arrived in the country together with a team of medical experts dispatched from China.

Medical supplies donated by China to 54 African countries arrived in Ethiopia. The shipment included 5.4 million face masks, 1.08 million COVID-19 test kits, 40,000 protective suits and 60,000 protective face shields.

China provided medical supplies for Spain, including 834 COVID-19 test kits, 50,000 medical face masks, 10,000 medical protective suits, 10,000 pairs of isolation goggles, 10,000 pairs of surgical gloves, and 10,000 pairs of shoe covers.

March 23

China provided an additional 1 million surgical masks for South Korea. The Chinese government has provided a total of 2 million surgical masks, 100,000 N95 masks, and 10,000 protective suits in two batches to South Korea.

Supplies provided by China to Thailand, including face masks, COVID-19 test kits, and protective suits were shipped to Bangkok.

March 24

Medical supplies provided by China to Indonesia, including COVID-19 test kits, medical N95 face masks, surgical masks, medical protective suits, and portable ventilators were loaded onto a plane that departed from east China's Shanghai.

A batch of anti-epidemic supplies Hungary ordered from China, including various types of medical face masks, protective suits, forehead thermometers, and COVID-19 test kits, arrived in its capital Budapest.

March 26

Supplies provided by China to assist Myanmar in its fight against COVID-19, including medical protective suits and face masks, arrived in Yangon.

China provided anti-epidemic supplies to Mongolia, including COVID-19 test kits, protective face masks, and protective suits, to help the country in its efforts to combat the epidemic.

March 28

Anti-epidemic supplies provided by China to Malaysia, including COVID-19 test kits, medical N95 face masks, surgical masks, medical protective suits, and portable ventilators, were transported to Kuala Lumpur.

As of March 31, the Chinese government has given material assistance to 120 countries and four international organizations. The country has held nearly 30 conferences to share its experience in fighting COVID-19 with more than 100 countries and regions. In addition, local governments, enterprises, and non-governmental institutions have also actively offered donations to virus-stricken countries around the world.

Moreover, China has launched several online platforms to further facilitate global medical assistance amid the epidemic. Hua Chunying, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, said on her Twitter account, “China launched the WeDoctorGCPC, AliHealth and Baidu Ask Doctor global aid platform. We hope these platforms will be able to not only help our Chinese nationals, but all people suffering from COVID-19.”
