Nearly half of poverty-stricken people in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region live in areas with stony desertification, which causes a severe shortage of drinking water. For the local authorities, making drinking water available to people has become a top priority in the battle against poverty.
During China’s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, local authorities in the region stepped up the construction of water conservancy facilities, providing safe drinking water for the locals and helping eliminate poverty.
