Changchun Ice-Snow World opens in NE China (9)

The ice-snow world in Changchun, capital of northeast China’s Jilin province, opened on Saturday. As the first of its kind in the province, the ice-snow world is applying for a new Guinness world record with its 420-meter long ice slide.

The park used 180,000 cubic meters of ice and 120,000 cubic meters of snow for about 130 ice and snow sculptures.

A 21-meter high ice Olympic torch, the highest of its kind in the world, stands upright near the ticket entrance hall, heralding the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. A short distance from it is a 157-meter long snow sculpture complex, also the largest of its kind in the world, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“We built a majestic ice and snow complex within 15 days, which is also a miracle,” said the head of the ice-snow world.

As a key tourism project in Jilin province, the park involved a total investment of 850 million yuan to attract tourists and boost winter tourism. (Photo/thepaper.cn)
