Chinese lawmakers meet to hear multiple reports

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature on Tuesday convened a meeting to hear two law enforcement reports and multiple reports on the handling of lawmakers' motions and suggestions.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, attended the plenary meeting held during the ongoing bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee.

Ding Zhongli, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, briefed lawmakers on a report on the enforcement of the renewable energy law. An inspection of the enforcement of the law was launched from August to November. The inspection team proposed in the report improving top-level design and more technological innovations and several other measures to facilitate the high-quality development of renewable energy sector.

Wu Weihua, also vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, briefed lawmakers on a report on the enforcement of the fisheries law. The inspection team suggested promoting the sustainable use of fishery resources and better defining supervision and law-enforcement responsibilities in the report.

Two reports on the handling of lawmakers' suggestions at the second annual session of the 13th NPC were submitted by the general office of the NPC Standing Committee, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, respectively.

All the 8,160 suggestions submitted by Chinese lawmakers to this year's NPC annual session have been handled, with feedbacks sent to the NPC deputies, according to the NPC Standing Committee report.

Lawmakers also deliberated five reports on the handling of the motions submitted to the second annual session of the 13th NPC.
