Scientific expedition team digs nature reserve in southeast China

On Dec. 12, scientists, researchers and experts from nine scientific institutions and workers at the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve investigated the region, located in southeast China's Fujian province, collecting specimens to study the old forests and wildlife resources in the nature reserve.

During the trip, the expedition team also installed nine infrared cameras to further record rare animals, bringing the total number of cameras in the area to 43.

The Wuyishan National Nature Reserve, with undisturbed native forests spanning 210.7 square kilometers, is home to 2,799 species of higher plants, 239 species of algae, 503 species of fungi, 100 species of lichens, 558 species of wild vertebrates, and 6,849 species of insects.
