Visual feast from 7th Int'l Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Chengdu

The 7th International Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage kicked off in Chengdu, in Sichuan province in the southwest of China on Oct. 17. Thereat, over 1,100 items of intangible cultural heritage from 86 countries and regions around the globe was showcased.

These items included exquisite Sichuan embroidery, colorful and beautiful Yi nationality costumes, popular folk art related clay pottery, spectacular shadow plays as well as Mosaic technology of Serbian silversmiths and more.

For design the festival facilities, Chengdu developed 10 "routes of intangible cultural heritage", including areas themed around their abundant local intangible cultural heritage projects such as Sichuan brocade, Sichuan embroidery and Chengdu lacquer art, as well as other kinds of famous tourist resources in the city such as the well-known panda base.

The city also developed 40 experience bases pertaining to intangible cultural heritage projects, including a Chengdu lacquer craft factory and the Sichuan Cuisine Cultural Experience Museum.
