National flag guards from Tianjin-based universities staged a parade on Sept. 18 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
The activity officially kicked off at Tiangong University after a solemn flag-raising ceremony and concluded with the song Ode to the Motherland.
More than 1,000 students from universities in north China’s Tianjin, including Nankai University, Tianjin University and the Civil Aviation University of China, attended the activity. They formed 24 squads and marched past the rostrum in an orderly formation with standard goosesteps, leaving a deep impression on spectators.
The parade was hosted by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission as a military education activity to spur patriotism among college students, during which time first-year students from the Tiangong University performed military boxing, dagger exercises and cudgel play as a presentation of their military training.
