The addition of the Apple News channel is intended to help connect China and the world. “English and other foreign language services of People’s Daily Online aim to tell stories about China and spread China’s voice so as to enhance mutual understanding,” said an editor who wants to remain anonymous. “We want to help people better understand China, a country that presents tremendous opportunities for foreign countries and peoples.”

The People’s Daily started out as one newspaper in 1948 and developed into a media group consisting of 29 publications, in addition to the newspaper.

The People’s Daily Online news channel will help readers stay up to date on the latest political, business, science & technology, culture, travel, food and health news about China and around the globe.

The huanqiu.com (website of the Global Times), a sister publication of People's Daily Online, also launched an Apple News channel at the same time. The channel can be found at: apple.news/TwFcMy-hkS6ivnH__lCXa5g
