A biennial exhibition featuring police equipment and anti-terrorism technology has opened in Beijing, with dozens of exhibitors presenting cutting-edge technology and equipment for police and the military.

The China (Beijing) International Exhibition on Police Equipment and Anti-Terrorism Technology and Equipment (CIPATE) is jointly organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. It has been held every two years since May 2005.

Many military and police vehicles manufacturers parked their vehicles outside the exhibition hall. Beijing Anlong Group’s explosion-proof armored vehicle, stationed right at the entrance, was the subject of much attention. The Ford Motor-adapted armored vehicle can hold up to 10 officers, and its tank-like armor makes it virtually unstoppable in urban areas.

An employee of the company told the People’s Daily Online that its vehicles have been successfully exported to several countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. The Zhaoqing public security bureau in Guangdong province also recently signed a contract to purchase Anlong's armored vehicles.

Smaller exhibits at the expo included police motorcycles, extendable batons and drones. Some companies focused on smaller gadgets such as optical aiming devices for firearms and drug test papers.

Specifically, Sichuan-based Haoying Kean Technology became to focus of attention when employees demonstrated how the company's multi-joint self-locking pliers could effectively bring down a baton-waving suspect.

Su Yuran, a manager of Beijing-based Efly Technology, told the People’s Daily Online that Efly is hoping to cooperate with more police authorities from the expo. The company previously secured a 68-million-RMB deal with Chinese civil aviation authorities to deploy its drones in several provinces for search and rescue missions.
