A Slovakian Kung Fu teacher's Chinese dream

It is the dream of many to become a Kung Fu master, but few are actually persistent and dedicated enough to make that dream a reality. Thirty-two-year-old Slovakian martial arts practitioner Marian is one of the few who was.

Marian began to practice martial arts in Slovakia in 1995. He came to China in 2008 to study Mandarin, and that's when he met his teacher, Yu Qingdi, who is a Kung Fu master specializing in traditional Wuji boxing.

After graduating from his academic program, Marian returned to his hometown to establish a martial arts center with a focus on Wuji boxing. He also helped to set up the first traditional Confucius Institute of Chinese medicine in Slovakia. At the same time, he competed for and won several martial arts titles, including the 2013 Slovakia national martial arts championship.

Since 2016, Marian has been working in China as a martial arts instructor, teaching in both Chinese and English. He believes martial arts is not only about physical strength, but also about providing a sense of calm and harmony with nature.(Photo/Chinanews.com)
