
Photo shows China's first national seed bank for wild plants, the Germplasm Bank of Wild Species at the Kunming Institute of Botany, which is located in southwestern China's Yunnan province. As the largest seed bank for wild plants in all of Asia, the Yunnan base contains seeds of nearly 10,000 wild plants from around the globe. Every five to 10 years, scientists examine all the samples to be sure that they can sprout.
