British aerial photographer Timo Lieber released a series of photos named THAW recently. Taken several hundred miles over Greenland, the photos show a rapidly growing number of lakes and rivers forming across its surface.
The Greenland ice sheet is a vast frozen reservoir of fresh water, and it will raise the global sea-level by about 6.7 meters if all the ice is depleted. In the past two decades, Greenland has lost an estimated 38 billion tonnes of ice annually due to climate change.
