Ukraine's parliament speaker expects closer cooperation with China

KIEV, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine expects to strengthen cooperation with China, the newly elected Ukrainian parliament speaker Volodymyr Rybak said here on Friday.

Ukraine is willing to consolidate the strategic partnership with China, Rybak told Chinese ambassador Zhang Xiyun.

Rybak invited China's top legislator Wu Bangguo to visit Ukraine and said the visit would enhance bilateral cooperation.

Zhang said China would continue to invest in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, infrastructure and high technology in Ukraine.

Rybak, 66, was named parliament speaker on Dec. 13.
