National defense education office directors' meeting convened

The National Defense Education Office Directors' Meeting of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities was recently held in Changsha, capital city of south China's Hunan province. During the meeting, the national defense education work under the new situations was studied and deployed by centering on the strategic goal of "building a consolidated national defense and a powerful army not only being compatible with China's international status, but also suitable for China's national security and development interests" based on the requirements for "strengthening Chinese people's national defense awareness".

Participants exchanged experience on the piloting for studying and implementing the Opinions on Strengthening National Defense Education Work under the New Situations issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC), and reviewed and summarized the situation of national defense education work of 2012 in various places of China.

The meeting stressed to improve the means of national defense education by focusing on the economic and social development, national defense and army building, and promote national defense education in leading organs, schools, enterprises, rural areas and communities in a bid to constantly strengthen Chinese people's national defense awareness.
