Listening to people’s needs with sincerity

(People's Daily Online)

08:08, December 20, 2012

Party cadres should learn to listen to the people’s needs with sincerity, so as to communicate effectively with them.

Party cadres should be able to persuade the masses sentimentally and rationally. However, the people’s needs are unreasonable sometimes. Some of their problems can be solved immediately, but other problems need to be solved step by step.

In order to persuade the masses rationally, cadres should listen to their needs with sincerity and learn about their attitudes and opinions. Cadres should also be good at using the Party and government policy as well as laws and regulations to persuade and guide the masses. Furthermore, cadres should put themselves in the masses’ shoes, and communicate clearly, sincerely, and effectively with the masses. They should use facts, reason, lucid explanations, and gentle methods to effectively guide the masses and warm their hearts.

Listening is an important starting point for enhancing the blood ties between the Party and the masses. Only when cadres are good at listening to the people’s needs will they better solve the problems that the people are most concerned about and establish a mechanism in which development is by the people, for the people, and to the benefit of the people.
