KIEV, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and three injured in two separate road accidents in Ukraine, authorities said Thursday.
Three people, including an infant, were killed at about 5.30 p.m. local time (1530 GMT) Wednesday after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on Zhitomir-Chernovtsy highway in western Ukraine, according to the Emergencies Ministry.
Another two people, including a five-year-old girl, were injured and taken to the hospital.
The second accident occurred minutes later at about 5.45 p.m. local time (1545 GMT) Wednesday in southern Crimea region, when a passenger car was sideswiped by another car in the urban area of Evpatoria city.
The accident claimed the lives of two people. Another person was sent to hospital for treatment following the crash.
Snow and poor visibility were initially blamed for causing the accidents. Further investigation is underway.
