Brig. Gen. Khalid, top military commander of the United Nations Mission in South Kivu province of Congo (K), came to the Chinese Level-II peacekeeping hospital in Bukavu City, capital of the province, and inspected the 15th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to Congo (K) at 15:00 on December 18, 2012, local time.
It is learnt that Brig. Gen. Khalid is the first high-ranking officer of the UN Peacekeeping Force to come to the 15th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to Congo (K) for an inspection since the 15th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment was stationed in the mission area on November 29, 2012.
During his inspection tour, Brig. Gen. Khalid listened to the work report by the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment since the rotation and hand-over of the Chinese medical detachment, visited each consulting room of the hospital, praised the medical workers of the detachment for their working attitude, and particularly spoke highly of the military quality of calmness, rapidity and efficiency displayed by the Chinese medical workers in their rescue of the French people who was shot by guns nearby the Chinese barracks on the night of December 5, 2012.
So far, the 15th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to Congo (K) has been stationed in the mission area for 23 days. During this period, the detachment received and cured a total of 79 people, carried out 300-odd various tests and examinations, performed 6 operations, got and transferred 4 people.
