GLD strengthens disaster-relief quartermaster, materials and POL support

BEIJING, April 24, (ChinaMil) --- The Quartermaster, Materials and POL Department under the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) immediately launched the emergency preplan and allocated and transported nearby much-needed disaster-relief materials to quake-hit areas after the outbreak of the Lushan earthquake, the reporters learnt from the GLD of the PLA on April 23, 2013.

As of 16:00 on April 23, the department had set up 4 food supply centers and opened up 28 pieces of catering equipment in the quake-stricken areas to offer hot food to quake victims and taskforces; opened 3 field gas stations and dispatched 6 oil tankers and fuel trucks to provide POL support for taskforces; distributed 146,000 sets (pieces) of bedding and clothing, purchased 3-day convenience food for 2,700 people, 1,000 pairs of gloves, 1,000 masks and other emergency support materials.
