Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Ganzan, director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Lao Ministry of National Defense who came to China to attend the second meeting of the China-Laos Military Cooperation Coordinating Committee, on December 20, 2012 in Beijing.
Qi Jianguo said that the relations between China and Laos and that between the two militaries have a profound foundation by withstanding trials and hardships in the past. He hoped that the China-Laos Military Cooperation Coordinating Committee could earnestly implement the instructions and requirements of the leaders of the two countries and the two militaries, play the role of platform and act as a "good staff officer" for the leaders of the two militaries to make decisions, so as to push forward the relations of the two militaries to a new high.
Ganzan said that the Lao side is grateful for Chinese side's long-term strong support in Lao national and military construction, and is willing to constantly strengthen communication, coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side, so as to make efforts for the development of the relations between the two militaries.
