Rumor says: Many people enjoy drinking wine with carbonated beverages, such as red wine with Sprite and beer with Coke. Affected by carbonic acid, the alcohol can easily run to the brain through the blood brain barrier, thus leading to injuries. Therefore, the mixed drinks will affect health and cause obesity and other chronic diseases.

The truth is:

The carbonated drinks are "innocent" and it is the alcohol that harms people's body and triggers obesity and other chronic diseases.

The expert explained that, after mixing with blood, the alcohol will travel throughout the body with the blood circulation. Since alcohol is fat-soluble, it can easily penetrate the blood brain barrier.
