Terraced-field race draws crowds to village in E China's Zhejiang

A lively climbing race held on June 20 in the terraced fields of Daping village, Juxi township, Cangnan county, Wenzhou city, east China's Zhejiang Province, attracted wide attention from villagers and tourists. The event offered a vivid illustration of the area's cultural tourism appeal, which draws on its picturesque terraced fields and the traditional culture of the She ethnic group.

As participants, including family teams, raced uphill across the layered terraces, villagers and visitors gathered along the fields to watch, filling the air with cheers and excitement and creating a vivid scene of rural vitality.

Juxi township is one of the key She ethnic communities in Cangnan county, where the She language, dance and cultural traditions are still well preserved.

In recent years, the local government has worked to develop a cultural tourism brand built around the area's scenic terraced fields, She ethnic heritage and local coffee culture.

Through a series of fun sports events and folk cultural activities, the area has revitalized rural tourism resources, expanded sales channels for local agricultural products, and boosted collective village income, injecting new momentum into rural revitalization through culture-tourism integration.
