Writing a new chapter of mutual inspiration and shared success for China and the world

Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era moved forward tenaciously this year, weathering raging torrents and storms.

President Xi attended several major diplomatic events hosted by China, including the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Tianjin Summit, events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

He also made four important overseas visits — to Southeast Asia, Russia, Central Asia and South Korea — and took part in a series of multilateral summits. These efforts further strengthened and expanded China's global partnerships based on equality, openness and cooperation.

China and LAC countries are important members of the Global South. Independence and autonomy are our glorious tradition. Development and revitalization are our inherent right. And fairness and justice are our common pursuit.

History tells us that at difficult times, we must uphold our original commitment to peaceful coexistence, strengthen our confidence in win-win cooperation, advance in line with the trend of history, and thrive in keeping pace with the times.

To this end, I wish to propose the Global Governance Initiative (GGI). I look forward to working with all countries for a more just and equitable global governance system and advancing toward a community with a shared future for humanity.

History cautions us that humanity rises and falls together. Only when all countries and nations treat each other as equals, coexist in peace and support each other, can we uphold common security, eradicate the root cause of war, and prevent the recurrence of historical tragedies.

The Global Leaders' Meeting on Women

As an ancient Chinese saying goes, "Steadfast dedication yields an enduring fragrance." Standing at this new historic starting point, let us carry forward the spirit of the Beijing World Conference on Women, bear in mind the goal of a community with a shared future for humanity, accelerate the new process of women's all-round development, and jointly create a better future for the human race.

As a community with a shared future, China and Malaysia share the smooth times and the rough, stand united in peace and crisis, and thrive and endure together. "Share weal and woe," a popular proverb in both countries, defines the very essence of such a relationship. We must stay ahead of the times, surge forward with unyielding resolve, and jointly build a brighter future of development, growth and prosperity.

China and Cambodia, as important forces of the Global South, must keep to their shared values of peace, solidarity and cooperation, oppose all acts of unilateralism and bullying, and practice true multilateralism. The two sides must firmly resist bloc rivalry and camp-based confrontation, strengthen coordination and cooperation within frameworks such as ASEAN and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, jointly safeguard the hard-won peace and development in the region, and contribute to a community with a shared future for mankind.

Eighty years ago, our peoples won the anti-fascist war through heroic struggles. Eight decades later today, we must take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard our sovereignty, security, and development interests. We should be guardians of historical memory, partners in national development and rejuvenation, and champions of global fairness and justice, and work together to forge a brighter future for humanity.

Our cooperation is rooted in more than 2,000 years of friendly exchanges, cemented by solidarity and mutual trust cultivated through more than three decades of diplomatic ties, and taken forward via openness and win-win cooperation of the new era. Building on our collective efforts over the years, we have forged a China-Central Asia Spirit of "mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual benefit, and mutual assistance for the joint pursuit of modernization through high-quality development."

China and the ROK are important close neighbors that cannot be moved away, and cooperation partners that cannot be separated. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 33 years ago, the two countries have transcended differences in social systems and ideologies, and vigorously advanced exchanges and cooperation across the board, achieving mutual success and common prosperity.
