The traditional Sanyuesan Festival kicked off in Wangmo county, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Guizhou Province, on April 22.

Close to 3,000 people from ethnic groups, including Buyi and Miao, participated in a parade during the festival, which falls on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar. The festival highlights the charm of the traditional culture of ethnic groups on the social, ethnic, cultural, folk customs and other levels.

The Sanyuesan Festival is the Buyi people’s most important traditional festival. Listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in China, the festival has become a bright calling card for ethnic culture in Wangmo county.
