During a visit to central China's Wuhan in April 2018, Xi said "thank you" to a community worker who helps people with visual impairment "watch" movies.

Du Chengcheng, the woman who received the gratitude, started narrating films for visually impaired people in 2010. Her narration has helped thousands of visually impaired people experience the charm of films.

Du herself is physically handicapped. She had her left leg amputated in 2009 due to neurofibromatosis, a disease that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue throughout the body.

Du said she wanted to give back to society by helping the visually impaired people "watch" films.

"Though I have faced many difficulties over recent years, General Secretary Xi's 'thank you' has strengthened my determination to keep going forward," said Du after the meeting.
