Five ways to keep virus out after getting home from work

(People's Daily Online)    11:10, February 28, 2020

In recent days, many people in China have returned to work as businesses gradually resume production. However, the novel coronavirus epidemic is not over yet, so it’s best to keep our guards up. Here are five steps you need to take to make sure the virus doesn’t follow you into your house when you get back home.

Generally speaking, the virus is much less likely to be spread through the shoes. And even if it is, the virus on shoes will become inactive if they are left in a well-ventilated place for some time. But just to be extra safe, don’t ignore the hygiene problems that may be caused by shoes.

Take off your coat and sterilize it

Take off your coat and hang it near the door as soon as you come back home. Make sure your coat is kept apart from the clothes you wear in your home. If you have taken public transport or been to a crowded area, like a hospital, then you need to sterilize or wash your coat after you come back home.

Remove your face mask

When you remove your face mask after returning home, make sure that you take off it by grabbing the straps rather than its outer surface.

Disinfect your hands

After handling your clothes and face mask, you must clean your hands with flowing water and hand disinfectant.

Disinfect your belongings

You also need to disinfect your belongings that you have been carrying with you outdoors, such as your keys and purse. Keep in mind that electronic products need to be wiped with an alcohol pad.

Tips: If you have children at home, make sure that you complete all the above procedures before coming into contact with them.
