
Goal for renovation of shanty towns met

China continued to construct subsidized housing and rebuild rundown urban areas to meet the basic housing needs of disadvantaged groups.
In 2019, 2.89 million sets of house were to be built for shanty town renovation, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Work on about 3 million sets started in the first 10 months this year, accounting for 103.8 percent of the annual target, and some 1.03 trillion yuan has been already invested.
