The scenic city of Beihai is well known for its Silver Beach, fresh seafood, and great weather all year round, but it has recently become known for something else entirely. A seaport situated on the northern shore of the Beibu Gulf, Beihai is now a burgeoning hub of the electronic information industry.
Beihai Huike Electronics Co., Ltd. (HKC) is a leading IT manufacturing enterprise that specializes in the R&D, manufacturing and sales of optoelectronic display products and precision components for mobile smart terminals such as smartphones.

See-through TVs, sophisticated smartphone components and various sizes of displays; HKC is reshaping the industry in Guangxi with technological innovation. The company plans to invest a total of 54 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) in Beihai. And in phase I, HKC has invested 20 billion yuan ($2.8 billion) in the smartphone and smart TV projects, which will have a manufacturing capacity of 120 million smartphones and 30 million smart TVs when completed, said Wang Chengbing, Deputy General Manager of HKC Beihai.
"The electronic information industry, whose output value accounts for almost half of Guangxi's total, is transforming to focus on high-end businesses such as producers of core components and information services," said Yang Zhen, Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of Beihai.

Surrounded by sea on three sides, Beihai is situated at an advantageous location for China-ASEAN economic cooperation. Today, the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the approval of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone Development Plan have endowed the city with unprecedented development opportunities.
According to Yang, though having the smallest area among 14 cities in Guangxi, Beihai ranks first in terms of the quality of fiscal revenue and second in GDP growth rate in the first three quarters of this year. In recent years, Beihai has unveiled several policies to encourage major industries, with electronic information as one of its priorities.

It is expected that by 2020, HKC will build two full chains of mobile smart terminals and smart TVs in Beihai, becoming the world's largest smart TV production base and the largest smartphone production base in southwest China.
Supported by a sound business environment and favorable policies, HKC will go from strength to strength in promoting the electronic information industry in Beibu Gulf, added Wang.
