World Young Scientist Summit opens in China's Zhejiang

HANGZHOU, Oct. 26 -- The World Young Scientist Summit 2019 opened Saturday in the city of Wenzhou in east China's Zhejiang Province.

The two-day conference brings together more than 800 participants from over 100 countries and regions, including Nobel laureates and academicians from home and abroad.

Scientists from major academies across the globe will share their insight on the future development of science and technology and related industries at 35 sub-activities, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, big data, smart manufacturing and the digital economy.

In an address at the opening ceremony of the summit, Wan Gang, president of the China Association for Science and Technology, called for more efforts to promote communication between scientists and entrepreneurs in a bid to help young talents in science and technology realize their dreams.

During the conference, young scientists will release a declaration on sustainable development goals, which will serve as guidelines for youth to address global challenges and implement sustainable development goals.

The summit will also feature a high-level dialogue between Chinese officials and scientists and a roundtable discussion for future entrepreneurs.
