Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Beijing held a Charity Bazaar Saturday to help a school in southwest China's Chongqing.
Stanley Loh, ambassador of Singapore, said, “as a friend of China and given our close ties with Chongqing, we are helping Pengshui County by helping to build a student dormitory for Anzi Town Primary School.” With a student dormitory, these students will be able to stay in school during the week and focus on their studies since education is the path to a brighter future.

Anzi Town Primary School is located about 50 km away from the Pengshui County New Area under southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. As there is currently no student hostel, 122 of the 403 students who live more than 5 km away from the school spend a fair amount of time commuting daily.
Pengshui County has a population of 700,000 and is the fifth poorest county in Chongqing (out of 38). It is also a poverty alleviation target for the CPC Central Foreign Affairs Commission.

These charitable deeds will surely warm the hearts of teachers and students of the Anzi Town Primary School, and brought fresh hope to the children living in the mountains of Chongqing.
