Zdzislaw Goralczyk, former Polish ambassador to China, met a Chinese girl named Ge Yuanyuan when he was studying in Beijing in the 1950s. The two fell in love. At that time, the policy made it impossible for them to get married. Eventually, they were specially approved by Premier Zhou Enlai to get married, and hence began their 60-year-long transnational love. Gurarchik is devoted to the work of Poland-China relations all his life, from a foreign student to a diplomat.
