BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Wednesday met with visiting North Macedonian Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi in Beijing.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called China and North Macedonia good friends and partners who respect each other, treat each other on an equal footing, and cooperate sincerely.
Saying recent years have witnessed solid political mutual trust and deepened and fruitful cooperation in various fields between the two countries, Wang stressed China cherishes its traditional friendship with North Macedonia and stands ready to continue its efforts in promoting cooperation, facilitating synergy of development strategies, and jointly constructing the Belt and Road.
He called for concerted efforts to strengthen cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) to achieve more positive outcomes.
Wang also said that the CPPCC National Committee is willing to work closely with the North Macedonian Parliament at all levels to contribute to the greater development of relations between the two countries.
Hailing China's remarkable development achievements, Xhaferi said his country firmly adheres to the one-China policy, actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthens bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
Xhaferi also stressed that exchanges with the CPPCC National Committee will be accelerated to advance bilateral cooperation.
