The 4th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in Luang Prabang Province in Laos on Dec. 17, 2018, at which time the new LMC anthem was also released.
The song, titled “Lancang and Mekong, A River of Friendship,” was performed by young singers from six countries after the lyrics, originally written in Lao, were translated into English.
As the song goes, the Lancang-Mekong River originates in west China's Qinghai, passing through Yunnan province and on to Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, sustaining the masses. The river is, therefore, one of friendship and charm.
