CHINA-VISUALLY IMPAIRED GIRL-BROADCASTING DREAM (CN)

Yang Hong (R) is seen with her broadcasting instructor Wang Ying before class in Taihe County of Ji'an, east China's Jiangxi Province, Sept. 26, 2018. "Born blind, I have never gotten a chance to see this world," said Yang Hong as a guest anchor at a studio in Taihe New Media Center, "but I have a dream, a dream to be special and different." Yang Hong, a blind 20-year-old girl, works as a massage therapist, a common job for many blind people in China, yet aspires to become a radio anchor. This aspiration comes as she often listens to radio programs with her smart phone during the break of massage work. The beautiful voices from radio are like a beam of light, illuminating the dark world of the young visually impaired girl. Determined, Yang Hong decides to realize her big dream through endeavors. In 2017, Yang Hong attended a class of broadcasting and hosting, during which she started to learn vocalization and elocution. She worked hard and has devoted herself to her love for broadcasting. Yang Hong would practice unweariedly over and over again every day, even if she may be worn out after a whole day of intense massage work. Her endeavor paid off. She impressed audiences with her sweet voice and excellent elocution during a recitation program held by Taihe New Media Center. Later she was enrolled by Taihe New Media Center as a part-time anchor. Yang believes that by persisting effort, her dream of becoming a professional anchor will one day come true. "The learning of broadcasting and hosting fills me with self-assurance and happiness," said Yang Hong, "I hope to inspire more people with my voice." (Xinhua/Deng Jian)
