Located in Yibin, SW China’s Sichuan Province, the Shunan Zhuhai, namely the sea of bamboo in southern Sichuan, is one of the largest bamboo forests in China, covering an area of more than 120 square kilometers with over 240 different kinds of bamboo.
A fight scene from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Ang Lee was shot in the forest.
As it situates in the upper stretch of the Yangtze River, the bamboo forest also helps curb soil erosion, purify water quality and maintain ecological balance.
From bamboo tourism to bamboo cuisine and bamboo-made artworks, the bamboo economy is helping the locals to live a more prosperous life.
