ISLAMABAD: A newly married Chinese couple celebrated their wedding again in a traditional Pakistani ceremony held at Koza Banda area of Battagram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Sain, engineer by the profession, and Lin are part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project workforce and living in the area for last six months.

The couple had earlier flown to China last month to solemnise their marriage under Chinese customs, given the lack of such facilities in Pakistan at the moment.

They had returned to Pakistan and thrown a traditional reception for their Pakistani friends in Koza Banda area where they are working on a project.

Lin graced the reception in a traditional red wedding dress and bridal jewelry. She had also applied henna on her hands. The groom, Sain, wore a white sherwani complete with a qula. Their guests, mostly Chinese engineers and workers, also put on Shalwar Kameez (Pakistani dress) for the event.

Talking to media persons, Sain thanked his colleagues and friends for making their wedding so memorable. He said that his friends in Battagram district had suggested that they should have a Pakhtun-styled wedding ceremony, and had also helped the couple in arranging the reception. Sain said that he was really inspired by Pakistani rich culture.

The husband and wife have been working in Koza Banda for the past six months. Their Chinese colleagues also enjoyed the traditional wedding reception and also a symbolic baraat procession (journey to bride home) was also held. The guests were served with local food.
