In the face of many challenges gripping the world today, China has proposed the building of media of common destiny and community of common destiny as solution. Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli addressed over 460 Chinese and foreign media practitioners on September 21, 2017 in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Friends of China

The assembled journalists took part in the Belt and Road international media cooperation forum and the second Silk Road international cultural expo in Dunhuang City, China’s northwestern Gansu province from September 18-20, 2017.

Zhang Gaoli recalled that Chinese President Xi Jinping in autumn 2013 proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, and ever since, it has been a huge success. “Everyone who took part in the Dunhuang media forum is a friend of China. Openness and inclusiveness are part of the spirit of Belt and Road,” he explained.

Road of peace, cooperation

While commending People’s Daily newspaper for organizing the media forum, the Vice Premier described the Belt and Road Initiative as a road of peace, cooperation, openness and prosperity that is recognized by the international community. “Whatever happens to China’s economy has a huge impact on the rest of the world,” he stated.

Some 7.5 million jobs were added from January to June 2017,” he announced. After announcing that next year’s Belt and Road media cooperation forum will hold in Bo’ao in Hainan province, Zhang proposed that organizers should keep changing the venue every year to enable foreign journalists discover more of China.

Earlier, 9 keynote speakers at the Belt and Road international media cooperation forum in Dunhuang took the floor to comment on the conference and the Belt and Road Initiative. Vasily Pushkov, Head of International Projects Centre, Sputnik News Agency, Russia, paid tribute to China for its stable and sustainable development, saying the Belt and Road Initiative, which was launched four years ago, is progressing well.
