The main media center of the 9th BRICS annual summit opened to registered media outlets on Saturday, September 2, a clear signal that Xiamen, the host city, is ready for the forum.
The official agenda will kick off from Sunday and Chinese President Xi Jinping will chair the three-day summit. Under the theme of "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future", leaders of emerging economies will discuss measures to deepen their collaboration in politics, economy and people-to-people exchange, as well as the association's participation in the global governance.
Xiamen is a pioneer of BRICS cooperation in trade and investment. In 2011, it hosted the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, where representatives of the five BRICS countries jointly participated for the first time.
