Mozi: ‘Entangled’ photons successfully beamed from space
In a “major technical accomplishment” on quantum communications, Chinese scientists on June 15 reported the successful transmission of “entangled" photon pairs from space to the Earth in efforts to prove that a physical phenomenon once described by Albert Einstein as “spooky” exists at long distances.
By sending entangled photons, or light particles, from a satellite 500 km above the Earth's surface, China once again demonstrated its leading position in the field of quantum research, which, though still in its infancy, is a competition hotspot for all major countries.
