College couple takes graduation photo with 1-year-old son

A couple from Renmin University of China recently went viral online after their graduation photos with their 1-year-old son were posted on Chinese social media. In the photos, the couple resembles ordinary college love birds who want to record their memories on every corner of campus. However, having their son beside them makes their photos different.

The couple’s romance started in their second year of college, according to their friends, who expressed admiration for the successful relationship - especially as few college loves survive the four years.

The woman in the couple, Liao Siqi, said that giving birth to her son was the most correct and happiest decision she ever made. Her friend, Lu Xingji, thought it would be hard for her to keep the baby at first. But he eventually came around after seeing how good Liao and her partner were at caring for their son.

Lu believes that the transition from love to marriage is an important lesson for college students to learn. However, not all his classmates agree with him, despite their best wishes for the young couple. One postgraduate student told Beijing Youth Daily that early marriage requires stable material conditions to succeed, which is beyond the means of most college students.
